Background:

A Finnish client contacted RF element with a unique need for an antenna that could manage multiple frequencies—433MHz, 915MHz, 1575MHz, 2445MHz, and 5850MHz—for their drone detection and countermeasures system. The client was looking for a discreet, octagonal design with a particular port arrangement.

Challenges:

The complexity of this project was in combining several frequency bands into one, compact antenna. It also needed to look good and work well with the client's anti-drone setup.

RF element's Solution:

Our engineering team got creative to meet the client's needs:

Dual-Band Circuit Board Placement: We started by placing a dual-band circuit board for 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz at the top of the antenna. This placement helped get the best reception and kept interference to a minimum.

Octagonal Shape with Aluminum Reflectors: To give the antenna its octagonal shape, we used aluminum reflectors around it. These reflectors gave the antenna its distinctive look and boosted signal reflection and performance.

Frequency-specific Circuit Board Distribution: We evenly spaced the circuit boards for 433MHz, 915MHz, and 1575MHz across the aluminum reflectors. This layout made sure signals were evenly distributed and received well at all frequencies.

SMA Interface Ports: Each port on the antenna had an SMA interface, making it compatible with many anti-drone devices and systems.

Performance Testing and Iterations:

Our engineers tested the antenna's performance over and over, making little tweaks each time to improve the design. This thorough process made sure the final product met the client's high standards.

Final Product:

Our work resulted in a multi-band, full-spectrum Anti-Drone Antenna that not only did what the client needed but also looked better and was smaller than expected. Here's what our Multi-Band Anti-Drone Antenna looks like. Remember, what you're seeing is an early version, just for studying this case.
